Below are general questions that are asked each year.  The executive will hold a club wide meeting once tryouts are complete in late December to share additional information. In the meantime, feel free to Contact Us and we will do our best to help you out!

Tryouts begin following the first weekend in December each year, in accordance to the rules set by Volleyball Nova Scotia. To learn more about the tryout process we encourage you to visit the VNS web site at Volley ball Nova Scotia. Once teams are finalized, official practices begin the first week of January.

Tryouts take place with the head coach, assistant coach and independent evaluators.  The players are individually assessed, using set criteria relevant to their age group. Top skill level is one aspect of evaluation however Fury prides itself on selecting players who are coachable and possess a great team-oriented attitude. Needs of the team and commitment to the Fury program are also variables that are taken into consideration.

Fury teams practice mainly in various gyms throughout Fall River, Sackville and Beaverbank. Coaches will communicate team practice time and locations once selections are finalized. All players who make a Fury team are expected to commit to the practice and game schedule.

The Super Series is comprised of three major events in the 15U, 16U and 17/18U age categories. Each event is hosted in various locations across the province by local clubs. Teams are grouped based on their final pool play rank after each event. Teams are then re-grouped for the next event with other teams with similar finishes.  The third event results are used for seeding at Nova Scotia Championships.

Additional information along with tournament schedules will be posted on the Volleyball Nova Scotia web site.  Note: In previous years the location of each tournament is not announced until two-weeks prior to the scheduled date.

The Fury club has partnered with TeamSnap to bring a consistent, safe and reliable mode of communication to all club members. When a player registers with the club they are automatically rostered to their perspective team therefore all contact information must be accurate.  Further communication on the app will be shared with club members at the start-of-the-season.

Club fees and what specifically is included will be communicated to players who are asked to be on a Fury team. Registration begins following tryouts each year.

The decision for teams to play in tournaments; including Nationals, is decided by each individual team.  This information will be communicated by head coaches. Nationals is an expense outside of the club registration fee with fundraising activities required to subsidize the cost.

We encourage all concerns to be first addressed with the head coach and/or team manager.  Once this route has been taken and if you are unsatisfied with the result please reach out to the Club Director to discuss the issue further.

There are opportunities available to assist families with the financial costs of participating in youth volleyball.  KidSport Nova Scotia program provides up to $300/year/child. HRM also runs a program called HRM Kids (Healthy Recreation Motivates Kids).
